Leafs will put a stop to Habs momentum tonight. Incoming 8 loses in a row. |

I don't think that would be a bad thing. |

Makes sense since the Oil have no cap space and very mediocre wingers. It's a pure rental though, and unsure if Holland is game to trade away high picks in his first draft season. Interesting proposition though. |

Any team could have signed him just a short time ago for league minimum. Now after a dozen games, they are going to give Habs a 2nd round pick? No way! |

Leafs didn't notify the league office. |

Is this from a well placed source in the NHL office?
A source on the Oiler's org?
A top trusted source?
A euro source?
Elaborate please |

All I know is that the Leafs are not OK with this. |

A short time ago, he was consistently a healthy scratch and pretty useless at both ends of the ice.
Now he looks like a pretty good hockey player again and better than most other options. He'd be a massive upgrade for the Flames' top six. I'm sure no one wants to give up a second-round pick, but it'll happen if enough teams want him. |

How is anyone in on Kovalchuk? The entire league could have had him for league min salary and giving up no assets and only the Habs wanted him...Makes no sense. |

Someone will pay for the guy. A 2nd it will be...
And we stopped dreaming long ago... Habs wont make the playoffs again this year. |

Hate the argument any team could have had him.
No they couldnt
1) He can only sign with 1 team
2) He had to want to go there
3) Teams might have been wary at the time and didnt want to take the risk
4) We have no idea how negotiations went. Kovalchuk may not have originally wanted a vet min 2 way contract and other teams walked away.
At this point he has shown he has gas in the tank which means some playoff contenders will now consider him an option. |
